After hearing a remix of Lingo Scott’s ‘Elope’ tune on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show, we just had to get more info on this London boy. Currently working on his long awaited EP (out Spring 2011), Lingo Scott answers some questions and talks fashion, being an 80′s baby and his guilty pleasure ;)

You’ve been breaking waves recently, most notably on Huw Stephens Radio 1 session with him playing the EVM remix of your tune ‘Elope’, whats been the response like and how has that elevated your exposure so far?
The response to that tune has been amazing. I knew it was a big tune from the way people reacted to it in New York when I was out there playing it to cats. Massive respects to Huw Stephens for the support & the other DJ’s that jumped on after that. At the moment I’m in talks with a label about a single deal, look out for the vid + EP coming soon!

LINGO SCOTT -- ELOPE (EVM DUBSTEP REMIX)

Your musical taste is a collaboration of pop, electro and hip hop, what other artists have you admired over the years that have contributed to your sound?
I’ve always been inspired by the 80′s sound -- especially artists like Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The System & The Smiths. UK artists like Dizzee Rascal & Tinie Tempah keep me on my game & let me know that anything is possible with the right work ethic.

Have you collaborated with any other artists over the years?
Yeah for sure, Tinchy Stryder, Ruff Sqwad, Rowdy Superstar & The Coolness amongst others.

Favourite song to sing karaoke to?
Stevie Wonder -- ‘Ribbon In The Sky’ Love that song!

How important is fashion to you and what’s the relevance to it to your music as you alway seem to be impeccably dressed in photos and performing.
Why thank you! My fashion sense is something that is ingrained in me. My mother was a model back in the day & always made sure I looked good as a child so thats a part of me. Where I hangout (Brick Lane and Shoreditch) you gotta go hard with the swag, I just do my own thing with it.

My music, image and everything is my self expression from within bursting out like an explosion.

Where’s the best place to shop?
I’d recommend checking out A Child Of The Jago in Shoreditch. Top notch!

Guilty pleasures?
Watching X-Factor -- it’s corny but funny.

You’re London based at the moment but what other cities have you visited that really impressed you?
New York is popping, a lot going on out there. Rome is beautiful, also Bahia (Brazil) is awesome!

What’s your relationship with the Beatnik duo?
Those guys are dope, we’re good friends. They’re the illest brother/sister duo in the game. Statis is a monster on the beats & Nikki smashes it with her DJ skills. When we collab it’s magic! ‘Rock The Discotheque’ is massive just watch out for the other songs we got coming.

Tell us about your last LP, 999, and the process of its production.
I released ’999′ on 09-09-09 and it was created within a two year span which began with ‘Livin Rich’.

When I did that tune, I was going through mad money problems & with the credit crunch in full swing a lot of people related to it. I co-produced the track with my boy S.Chu & gave it that 80s Minneapolis funk sound that inspired me. I worked extensively with a producer known as CinningBao on the rest of the album -- he’s into Kraftwerk & New Order which added to the retro feel of the songs. Being an 80′s baby this LP represents the birth of Lingo.

Now it’s time to watch this baby grow!
